Stealthjet: *Stands up and points finger* >OBJECTION!<
In defense of Dypo, I shall state that there is a flaw in both of your logics!

Rashrules: Oh? And would you care to explain this flaw of yours?

Stealthjet: Gladly. First of all, you state that Dypo had removed Voltgloss so he could be an attorney against you. However, did you notice when Voltgloss disappeared, and when Dypo appeared?

Chief Justice: Heh, just what I'd expect from a rookie attorney. Simple thoughts from a simple person. So what if Dypo appeared long after Voltgloss went missing? Dypo could have simply waited to remove suspicion from himself! Maybe I should have you sent back to law school for failing to deduce such a simple fact?

Stealthjet: *raises hands out in a questioning manner, Edgeworth style* And if Dypo's purpose was to remove suspicion from himself, why then would he do the most suspicious thing possible?

Rashrules: Huh?! Wait...do you mean...removing Voltgloss during the trial?

Stealthjet: Indeed. If Voltgloss was indeed removed by someone, why remove him during the trial, then set up another case just to be an attorney? Why not wait for Voltgloss to finish the trial before removing him and set up another case? He has no reason to implicate himself considering that what he wanted to be on trial for (and thus defend himself) was for the crime of misspelling a word!

[Ominous music starts playing]

Stealthjet: ...Unless, if this is part of something even larger than any of us would have thought. In fact, it would be a plot that none of us would actually think possible...

Judge: Stealthjet! Explain yourself!

Stealthjet: No. I refuse to speak further. What I say would be pure speculation anyway, I refuse to speak further.

Quote from: Rashrules
Rashrules: Hmm... You raise an interesting point, Stealthjet... and I know Dypo didn't do that. But the Chief says otherwise.

Chief: He was overexcited. His other crime was to deliberately set up the trial, and if he was THAT desperate, then he could have committed the murder of Voltgloss anytime! He let his emotions control him...

Quote from: Dypo
((OOC: Dypo: I'm ready to roll. Glad it wasn't all a waste, though. I had a feeling my post had some flaws...))

___

Judge: Mr. Dypo, your cross-examination, please.

Dypo: Certainly, Your Honor.

___

CROSS - EXAMINATION

-Right after Day 1 of this trial, I called Omega on the phone. He didn't answer.

Dypo: >HOLD IT!<
What did you think of it at the time?

Chief: I thought he might simply be occupied at the time. However...

-I went to his house but it was locked. I looked in through the window and nobody was there.

Dypo: >HOLD IT!<
How many rooms were there, exactly?

Chief: How am I supposed to know? You don't expect me to have complete plans of every attorney's home, do you?

Dypo: Right... Sorry. But I wanted to know if he couldn't have been in another room, rather than the one you've seen through the window.

Chief: No need to apologise. Actually, I do have complete plans. Just not Omega's, as he was a complete rookie. As for that other question, I didn't think he'd be, like, for example, sleeping, rather than preparing his case.

Dypo: But there's still the possibility he was, right?

Rashrules: >OBJECTION!<
... I'm sorry, but his home was searched thoroughly. There wasn't a single shred of evidence he was still there.

Dypo: (What? How does he know that? Did he ditch me when I wasn't looking? *sigh*)

-I knew that Dypo and Rashrules suspected him. I was there for the meeting about the 'trap' trial. They announced it publicly at the current trial on the first day.

Dypo: >HOLD IT!<
Did you think Omega was the culprit, as well?

Chief: Yes, I did. It seemed to make complete sense, after all.

Dypo: I see. What were your thoughts when you realised something might have happened to him?

-So I thought he committed suicide. He couldn't handle the pressure of all of this.

Dypo: >HOLD IT!<
What made you think he couldn't handle the pressure, exactly?

Chief: Well, like I said, I, too, thought he was the culprit. He must've realised he was only going to delay his own conviction. So he ended it prematurely.

Dypo: >OBJECTION!<
But... He didn't kill anyone, right? He only shot me, and that wouldn't have led to execution. He would only have to go to jail for a few years, and he would've been let out after that. Why, then, would he commit suicide?

Chief: Well, I didn't know he wasn't the one who killed Marina. That's why I thought it was suicide, because he'd be executed for it.

Dypo: (Hm... So far, everything makes sense...)

-However, as likely as it seemed, I could not report the suicide without evidence, as he was just missing.

Dypo: >HOLD IT!<
So... you didn't do anything to find out if he had really committed suicide?

Chief: No, but there was something else which I did.

Dypo: I see. And what was that?

-Jeremiah was also there at the first meeting, and I visited him and told him about this 'suicide'.

-Then I realized my mistake. The two attorneys would visit Jeremiah and pressurize him until he spilled the details about the suicide and other information.

Dypo: >HOLD IT!<
Why did you tell him about the so-called "suicide" anyway?

Chief: I thought he had a right to know, since he was involved in it.

Dypo: But, at that point in time, you didn't have evidence of this, correct?

Chief: No, I didn't. But I told him about all my hunches as to what happened.

-I wrote that letter to stop them from visiting him. I mentioned Omega's name in it to make it seem natural since he was the suspect, and it wouldn't trouble him because he was no longer in this world.

Dypo: >HOLD IT!<
Chief Justice. You didn't have evidence that showed that Prosecutor Omega was dead, did you?

Chief: No, but-

Dypo: That's what I wanted to hear. It shows that you knew that Omega was dead.

Chief: H-How so?

Dypo: You mentioned that "it wouldn't trouble him since he was no longer in this world", correct?

Chief: Yes, but I assumed he was because I thought he committed suicide.

Dypo: In that case, would you happen to know what would have happened if he really wasn’t dead?

Chief: Huh? But he was dead…

Dypo: … Earlier on, you stated this in your testimony:

However, as likely as it seemed, I could not report the suicide without evidence, as he was just missing.

So, with the knowledge that he could simply be missing, you STILL told you nephew about the suicide?

Chief: …!

Dypo: Mr. Justice. You knew he was dead. Because you disposed of him after he failed to kill me.

Chief: Y-You don’t h-have a shred of e-evidence!

Dypo: (He’s right about that. But…) There’s still something you need to clear up. At which meeting you told Jeremiah about Omega’s “suicide”.

Chief: I went to Jeremiah to discuss a number of things a number of times. The first time was just before you were hospitalized, I think.

Dypo: Unfortunately, that is impossible, Chief Justice.

Chief: Oh? Care to explain why it’s so impossible?

Judge: I, too, would like to hear that. Bear in mind that accusing the Chief is not without consequences, if done with indecisive evidence.

Dypo: My evidence is more than decisive, I assure you. Now, Mr. Justice, I believe you stated this in your testimony:

Right after Day 1 of this trial, I called Omega on the phone. He didn't answer.

Which means… that it was after I was hospitalized! Thus, you couldn’t have known that he had committed suicide already, as you hadn’t been to his house yet. But… why would one make such a basic mistake? Care to guess, Your Honor?

Judge: Maybe he just remembered it wrong?

Dypo: Of course not. His nephew was the one on trial. He was sitting in the audience. But that creates another contradiction. If he was sitting in the audience, then naturally, he should have known that Jerry was the killer of Marina.

Judge: But, in that case, why did he say that meeting was before you were hospitalized?

Dypo: It was almost the only time at which it could have occurred. Only little time after I got out, we apprehended Jerry. Thus, the meeting would have to be before that. After all, no one but the attorneys on this case -- that is, me and Rashrules -- were allowed to talk to him. That’s his reason. But if he knew that Jerry was Marina’s killer, then he shouldn’t have had a reason to suspect Omega of committing suicide. After all, Omega hadn’t killed anyone. What do you have to say to that, Mr. Justice?

Chief: ...

Quote from: Rashrules
Judge: Mr. Justice... we are waiting for an answer.

Chief: I... I did it. I did kill him.

Judge: WHAT?!

Chief: I plead self-defence.

Dypo: Self-defence?! What an outright liar!

Rashrules: Let's hear him out. You exposed his lie before and I'm sure you'll do it again, Dypo. There's not much of a role a prosecutor has in cross-examinations except to debate with the defence's argument, and I agree with what you've said so far.

Chief: I'll... testify.

Dypo: >OBJECTION!<
Your honour! He should be charged with perjury!

Judge: Overruled. We must hear him out.

Rashrules: Just because he has power doesn't mean you can't charge him!

Judge: I said, OVERRULED! Any more argument on this matter and you'll both get penalties.

Rashrules: (I've got a slight feeling that the judge might be biased...)

________
TESTIMONY

-Omega came to my office, and started yelling at me.

-He said that I was in on the "trap" trial and was going along with it for good publicity.

-I told him I was sorry that I suspected him earlier too, but he wouldn't listen.

-Attorney Chaze had delivered the gun to me which was used in the murder of Marina after my nephew was arrested. I had asked him to do so. It was resting on my table.

-It was still loaded with the 5 bullets left in it. Omega picked it up and aimed it at me.

-I jumped on him and tried to take the gun from him. While trying to wrestle it from his grasp, the trigger was pulled and he was shot dead. I cleaned up after the best as I could.

-I dumped the body in a river which is about 25 km northeast of town.

-I lied earlier... but I didn't do it for myself, but because I need to be there for my nephew when he needs support. If he sees me in trouble the poor boy would lose all hope.

________

Judge: That.... that's very touching, Mr. Justice... hold on, I have something in my eye...

*crowd mutters in approval*

Dypo: (Now he's trying to win the public's sympathy by saying "I did it for my nephew." Pathetic.)

Rashrules: Mr. Justice, I'm sure we can use Luminol on the rug of your carpet to test your story? Surely some traces of blood are still there?

Chief: ...

Dypo: There have been plenty of contradictions on your previous testimonies. Any more and it would prove one thing: you are desperately trying to cover up and it would definitely make you seem more guilty. While these testimonies relate to Omega's murder and not to the attacks on me or the murder of Marina, we'll get down to those too eventually.

Judge: ...Very well. You may begin your cross-examination Mr. Dypo.

Rashrules: I think this is the last testimony relating to the murder of Omega. Let's finish this.

Quote from: Dypo
((OOC: Dypo: Against all odds, I've finished it today. Brace yourselves...))

___

Dypo: Before we begin, I have something to state. Mr. Justice.

Chief: Yes?

Dypo: No matter how hard you may run, you shall not escape your crimes. This, I promise you.

Judge: Now, let's not get too enthusiastic, shall we? I don't think there's a need for-

Dypo: There is, Your Honor. There was a MAJOR contradiction in his testimony just now.

Judge: Care to enlighten us, Mr. Dypo?

Rashrules: Let him cross-examine the Chief; I, too, have spotted it, so I'm sure he's not bluffing.

Judge: Very well. Your cross-examination, please.

Dypo: Certainly, Your Honor.

___

CROSS - EXAMINATION

-Omega came to my office, and started yelling at me.

Dypo: >HOLD IT!<
Any idea as to why he would do such a thing?

Chief: Well, he did give me a reason.

Dypo: Maybe... because you paid Jeremiah more than Omega?

Judge: *gavel slam* That's mere speculation, Mr. Dypo. I won't tolerate it.

Dypo: AHHH-HHHEMM! Let's move on, shall we?

-He said that I was in on the "trap" trial and was going along with it for good publicity.

Dypo: >HOLD IT!<
Have you ever gone along with anything merely for the publicity?

Chief: I did play in a commercial for shower gel-

Dypo: Let's move on. I don't want to cause this court any more mental anguish.

Chief: ... I take that as an offense.

Dypo: *death glare*

Chief: That doesn't work on me. I am the one who taught Gant his Gant-stare.

Dypo: Oh. Carry on, in any case.

-I told him I was sorry that I suspected him earlier too, but he wouldn't listen.

Dypo: >HOLD IT!<
So, you really did suspect him, did you? Or is it something you just made up?

Judge: No speculation, please. I'll have to penalize you.

Dypo: (Ack! Oops... I shouldn't press on every statement so rashly.)

-Attorney Chaze had delivered the gun to me which was used in the murder of Marina after my nephew was arrested. I had asked him to do so. It was resting on my table.

Dypo: >HOLD IT!<
If that's the case, how did it end up at Jeremiah's house later?

Chief: Err...

Dypo: Exactly. You err'd. How do you explain that?

Chief: Er, I, um... I asked another officer to bring it back. Yeah.

Dypo: Why?

Chief: Why what?

Dypo: Why did you do that?

Chief: Because I didn't understand your question.

Dypo: (Why is he sidestepping my questions so easily? I guess I'll expose the contradictions in one blow later.)

-It was still loaded with the 5 bullets left in it. Omega picked it up and aimed it at me.

Dypo: >HOLD IT!<
Did it look like he was really going to shoot you?

Chief: Yeah, his eyes were fixed on my chest, and his face was overflowing with anger, so I panicked.

Judge: I see. Carry on, please.

-I jumped on him and tried to take the gun from him. While trying to wrestle it from his grasp, the trigger was pulled and he was shot dead. I cleaned up after the best as I could.

Dypo: >OBJECTION!<
And that contradicts your testimony, Mr. Justice. You clearly stated that this gun shot Omega dead. Which would mean that this gun can has been fired twice. And that would mean this gun can contain 7 bullets. But there's no room for that many bullets. How did a fifth bullet magically appear inside the gun?

Chief: That's simple, of course. I reloaded one of the bullets.

Dypo: Why the hell would you do that?!

Chief: To avert suspicion from me, of course.

Dypo: That could pass as plausible, however… why would you transport it back to Jeremiah’s house?

Judge: Ah! It was indeed in Jeremiah's house...!

Dypo: Exactly. And remember what you said in your testimony?

I lied earlier... but I didn't do it for myself, but because I need to be there for my nephew when he needs support. If he sees me in trouble the poor boy would lose all hope.

Which means... Even if you DID reload the bullet, and you DID transport it back to Jeremiah's house, that would contradict this statement! Why would you do so? To push suspicion onto your nephew, eh? Well, witness?!

Chief: ...! I-I’d never do that!

Dypo: Why did you ask Mr. Chaze to deliver the gun to you in the first place? What was your reason? Did you know it was Jeremiah who shot Marina?

Chief: No, I didn’t. I asked Mr. Chaze to do so before the trial.

Dypo: Is that so…? (Looks like he just slipped up…) Unfortunately, Mr. Justice, that is impossible.

Judge: Where are you going with this, Mr. Dypo?!

Rashrules: I think I see what he means. Shall I say it, or will you?

Dypo: I think I’ll take this one. If you think something else, I welcome you to state your opinion on this after I’m finished. Would that be acceptable?

Rashrules: (Well, technically, I’m not even back from summer camp yet, so…) I think it would be, yes.

Dypo: Very well. Let me ask just one question, then. When exactly did you ask Mr. Chaze to deliver the gun to you?

Chief: I just told you it was before the trial.

Dypo: Ah, but was it before Mr. Chaze delivered it to us, or after?

Chief: I don’t know. I think it was after... What does it matter, anyway?! Keep up with these silly questions, and I’ll have BOTH of your badges!

Judge: I’m inclined to agree with Chief. Care to elaborate, please?

Dypo: But of course. You were lying just now, weren’t you?

Chief: What the hell are you talking about…?!

Dypo: There’s no way it was after it was delivered to us. I put it in my pocket, after all. It’s the best place to keep the evidence. (Providing that the evidence isn’t too fragile, of course… Otherwise, it would be crushed by my DS, even though my pockets are custom-made and extra large.)

Rashrules: Which means it must have been before Mr. Chaze delivered it to us. Right, Mr. Dypo?

Judge: *gasp* But that would mean… that Mr. Justice… What would it mean, exactly?

Dypo: I’ll tell you. Or, more specifically, Mr. Rashrules will. You know what I mean, don’t you?

Rashrules: I do. Your Honor, what would it mean if Mr. Justice knew the gun was present, even before Jeremiah was arrested?

Judge: You don’t mean… Mr. Justice…

KNEW IT WOULD BE THERE?!

*Crowd goes wild*

Rashrules: Of course. He would know it was, as HE was the one who issued the order to kill Mr. Dypo!!

Dypo: Exactly. You can’t worm your way outta this one, can you, Mr. Justice?! Or should I say… Mr. Injustice? ("Wait a second... Did I use this phrase TWICE? Damn, fail." - Dypo)

Chief: GRRRRRRRAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAHHHHHHHH!!!!!!!!!!

Dypo/Rashrules: (Did we do it…?)

Chief: Hehehe… Hohoho… Hahaha…

Dypo: (I don’t like where this is going… I hate that irritating laugh. Damn it.)

Rashrules: (Doesn’t he realise he’s in really big trouble? Oh, I forgot. That laugh means he’s got something up his sleeve. *sigh*)

Chief: Looks like you forgot one other thing…
___

Dypo: What could it be?! What’s his secret trick?!

Quote from: Stealthjet
Chief: Hohoho...Why don't you go ask Attorney Chaze about it then? After all, he was the one who delivered it to me.

Dypo: What do you mean? (Is he going to claim that Chaze is on his side or something now? Speaking of which, where is Chaze?)

Chief: It doesn't matter when I asked him to deliver it to me. The question should be when did he deliver it, to both you and me. So, are you two simpletons going to call him up to testify now?

Stealthjet: Wha-? (I don't get it. Is this some sort of Xanatos roulette this guy is pulling?)
